Men like to add fashionable touches to their look. Depending on what their style is, this might mean a hat, drivers gloves, a pair of shades, or big headphones. Here are a few accessories adorned by men.
1. Neckwear:
Whether you're a posh, middle-aged banker, or a young, punky graphic designer, trendy guys like sporting neckwear (scarves) with almost every outfit they own. In warmer months, the suit might wear a silk Hermes scarf, while the punk might wear a one that's cotton, two-toned and plaid. In the winter, the suit might wear a cashmere coloured or Burberry scarf under his pecoat, while the punk sports an extremely long, charcoal grey wool scarf under his black, hooded Canada Goose.
2. Headwear:
Adding a toque to your look (even if it's indoors) takes it down a few notches. When combined with a nice sweater and the collar of your polo sticking out, you're making a statement which says ‘I know how to look good, but I am taking it easy.’ A papeboy hat looks great with a white v-neck and a pair of beat up jeans, it says ‘I am effortlessly cool’. A fedora is cool with certain looks, but can often look like you're saying ‘I'm cooler than you’.
3. Waistwear:
Unlike women who usually wear belts to make a fashion statement, men wear them to keep their trousers up. Having said that, they can also make a fashion statement. Mr. suit is likely to wear a designer belt that is a solid black or deep burberry mens sweaters. The punk or hipster however, might go for a distressed leather, or splash out with cool colours or a funky belt buckle. Some fun ones include, skull and crossbones, guns, or a boombox.
4. Bag:
While working men have carried around briefcases for years, and young students have carried their books around in backpacks, the emergence of the satchel for the young 20-30 year old is still relatively new. Nowadays guys like to have something to carry their laptops and other notes, books, and electronics in. Backpacks look too young and briefcases too old, the satchel though, in either leather or canvas, is the perfect medium. Often this look is complimented with a hoodie, a leather bomber, and a pair of big headphones around the neck.
5. Jewellery:
Men's jewellery, much like women's, is very personal. This has less to do with age and style and more to do with what you like, what's appropriate for where you work and hang out, and of course what's been passed down to you. A young man who receives his family ring on the day of his high school graduation might wear it throughout his life (as both the punky sport and the suit). A young man with no obligation to look sharp might just have a love for cufflinks which he will also carry with him throughout his life.
